Doula
A Doula to Accompany and Comfort visits individuals facing the end of life alone.
Because these people may not have family or friends, they often feel lonely, isolated, and afraid. A Doula is there to offer companionship, comfort, and support. A Doula will visit weekly in their homes, healthcare facilities (nursing homes/assisted living) and in hospitals until he or she dies.
Patricia has been a volunteer with The Doula to Accompany and Comfort Program since 2003. She volunteered at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in 2012. Click here to learn more about this program.
